Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
