A extended cruise through the Land Down Under is being halted days after the death of an older woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel left without her and returned several hours later after the crew discovered the lady was missing.

A large-scale hunt located her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that passengers and crew on the ship were informed that the continuation of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the passengers via chartered flights".

Authorities also published an latest communication, and said they had "issued a order to the Commander" preventing any further travelers from entering the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would inspect the liner in the Australian city upon its arrival.

Sequence of Events

The liner first departed the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the expedition at the moment of the elderly woman's death. The remote island was the first stop on the journey.
